PUASA honors retired teachers

PUASA honors retired teachers

Lahore: (Tuesday, December 16, 2025): Punjab University Academic Staff Association (ASA) organized a special ceremony to honor retired teachers here on Tuesday. On this occasion, PU VC Prof Dr Muhammad Ali, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood, President ASA Dr Amjad Abbas Magsi, Secretary Dr Muhammad Islam, Prof Dr Ghalib Atta, along with office-bearers and faculty members were present. Addressing the ceremony, PU VC Prof Dr Muhammad Ali said that retired teachers are the pride of the institution. He stated that retirement is part of the system, but a teacher should never truly retire. He said that just as lawyers, journalists, and artists never retire, teachers too should be given opportunities to continue serving at the peak of their careers. He remarked that while PU is losing its proud assets, everyone must understand that one day responsibilities do come to an end. He appreciated the efforts of ASA for organizing a dignified and respectful ceremony in honor of retired teachers. Paying tribute to the retired teachers, Dr Amjad Abbas Magsi said that in the past there was no tradition of organizing ceremonies at this level to honor teachers. He said that while differences may exist among faculty members, as an association they are elected to represent everyone. He said that such ceremonies are a small effort to honor teachers who have brought pride and recognition to the university. He also lauded the valuable services rendered by the teachers for PU.
