Institute of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics (IMMG), Organized Annual "Tri-Literary Competition 2025"

LAHORE, December 17, 2025 – The Institute of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics (IMMG), University of the Punjab, organized its annual "Tri-Literary Competition”. The event, featuring Debates, Essay Writing, and Baitbazi, was organized by the Character-Building Society (CBS),  of the Institute of MMG to foster critical thinking and ethical awareness among students.
Leadership and Participation: Organized under the leadership of IMMG Department Director, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Faisal, and the faculty advisor, Prof. Dr. Imran Sajid, the competition witnessed enthusiastic participation. Over 50 students competed in various categories, while a vibrant audience of 200+ students and faculty members attended the session to support the participants.
Thought-Provoking Themes The competition explored pressing themes related to corruption, governance, and literature. The topics for the debates and essays were as follows:
Debate (English): "Social Media Is More Effective at Exposing Corruption Than Law Enforcement".
Debate (Urdu): "بدعنوانی کا بنیادی محرک کیا ہے؟ ناقص نظام یا انسان کی بددیانتی".
Essay Writing (English): "Transparency laws are meaningless unless public institutions are designed to enforce them.".
Essay Writing (Urdu): "شفافیت کے قوانین اس وقت تک مؤثر نہیں ہو سکتے جب تک سرکاری اداروں کی تشکیل و ساخت ان کے نفاذ کی صلاحیت نہ رکھتی ہو".
Baitbazi: The Baitbazi segment was dedicated to "Iqbaliyat".
Distinguished Hosts and Guests The event was graced by esteemed faculty members who served as hosts and guests of honor, including Dr. Saleem Rao, Dr. Aamir Aziz, Mam Nadia Urooj, Dr. Zahoor Farooqi, and Prof. Dr. Ehsan Sharif.
Winners of the 2025 Competition After a rigorous round of argumentation and literary expression, the judges announced the following winners:

1st Position: Manahil Fatima (Score: 80)
 
2nd Position: Maham Malik (Score: 79.3)
 
3rd Position: Aena Khan (Score: 76.6)
Urdu Debate
 
1st Position: Manahil Munawar (Score: 87)
 
2nd Position: Noor-ul-huda Saeed (Score: 77)
 
3rd Position: Hafsa Asghar (Score: 71)
Essay Writing
 
English (1st Position): Arooba Khawar (BS 1st Evening) – Score: 87/100
 
Urdu (1st Position): Hadia (BS 7th A) – Score: 8/10
The event concluded with an awards ceremony, celebrating the students' dedication to meaningful discourse and literary excellence.
